It’s hard to explain, but you don’t feel like yourself.

Maybe it's the depression that settles in the week before your period, every single month.

The anxiety and overwhelm that arrived with your pregnancy or your baby and never quite left.

The brain fog and exhaustion that showed up somewhere in your 40s and won't lift no matter how much you sleep.

The version of yourself that used to feel clear-headed, steady, and energized feels further and further away.

When your mental health, your hormones, or your energy start to slip, your entire life feels the impact. You don't have months to spend working through treatments that aren’t right for you. You need an expert who will sit with you, look at the full picture, and actually listen.

I’m Dr. Susan Zink, a board-certified psychiatrist with over 15 years of experience in women’s reproductive and integrative mental health, including postpartum depression, perinatal anxiety and OCD, PMDD, and perimenopause. I began my journey in women's mental health at Princeton, driven by a fascination with how hormones, life transitions, and mental wellness intersect. I went on to train at Georgetown and UC San Diego, where I pursued a specialty focus in maternal mental health. I hold a Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International.

As a mother of three daughters, I also bring something beyond credentials: a genuine personal perspective on the hormonal and emotional transitions women face.

I see patients in person in South Jersey and via telehealth across New Jersey. If you're ready for care that looks at the full picture of what you're experiencing, let’s connect.

Warmly,

Susan Zink, MD

Direct Pay Psychiatry: The Highest Standard of Care

EleMental Integrative Psychiatry operates on a direct pay model, which means we do not involve insurance. This allows us to offer the highest quality, most personalized and flexible care without the limitations often imposed by insurance plans.

By working independently of insurance, we can explore a wider range of treatment options, tailor your care to your unique needs, offer greater freedom in scheduling and clinical decisions, and better maintain your privacy.

Direct pay also means faster access. New patients in South Jersey and across New Jersey are typically seen within 1–2 weeks — not the months-long waits common in insurance-based psychiatric care.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes. Dr. Zink sees patients in person at her office in Linwood, NJ, serving South Jersey including Atlantic County, Cape May County, and surrounding areas. Telehealth (virtual) appointments are available for patients anywhere in New Jersey.

  • Integrative psychiatry blends traditional psychiatric treatment with other complementary and holistic options. This approach offers more treatment tools, including prescription medicine (like antidepressants, for example), lifestyle optimization, acupuncture, yoga, or evidence-backed natural supplements.

  • Reproductive psychiatry refers to mental health evaluation and treatment related to hormonal changes that occur during a woman’s lifespan.  During the premenstrual cycle, pregnancy, postpartum, and perimenopause stages, psychiatric care often needs to be tailored in a unique way to manage symptoms and conditions.

  • Because we aim to offer an elevated level of care, EleMental does not take any insurance. Fees are charged at the time of treatment.  Please see here for more information about why we do not involve insurance.  Please note: due to federal and state rules, we are unable to see patients with Medicare or Medicaid benefits, even on a self-pay basis.

  • While hormonal and reproductive mental health is my specialty focus, I treat anxiety, depression, insomnia, OCD, PTSD, and other conditions whether or not hormones are a factor. Hormonal influences on mood are frequently overlooked or misdiagnosed, and part of what I do is help patients understand that connection when it exists, but you don't need a hormonal diagnosis to be a good fit for my practice. If you're unsure, the free phone consult is a good place to start.

  • Yes. EleMental is a specialty outpatient practice and is not equipped to manage conditions requiring a higher level of care, intensive monitoring, or multidisciplinary management, including schizophrenia, other severe psychotic disorders, and severe substance use disorders. If you're unsure whether your needs are a good fit, the free phone consult is the best place to find out. I'm always happy to point you toward the right resources if I'm not the right fit.

  • EleMental is not equipped to manage emergency treatment or individuals requiring higher levels of care that may require intensive treatment, continuous supervision, or case management. If you are experiencing an emergency, please call 911, the suicide lifeline 988, or go to the nearest emergency room.
